Why Use Wood Shaving

The wood shaving process provides soft, curved thin slivers of wood by planing or milling the timber in line with the grain. By their very nature wood shavings are soft and absorbent with the ability to dry quickly when soiled. These qualities make them ideal for animal bedding in many different environments. This coupled with the attributes of the timber itself, make wood shavings the preferred choice. Cedar wood for example have a built in natural insecticide that helps to repel insects and mites whereas both cedar and pine have aromatic properties and decay easily when discarded.

In addition, should you choose wood shavings that have been dried, the level of bacteria present is reduced dramatically thus reducing the risk of any cross-contamination.

There are also many other uses for wood shavings, such as:
